Speck TechStyle for Zune [Review]

Alexandre Vallieres-Lagace | September 4, 2008

I finally got hold of a case to protect my Zune 80GB. I have shown you in recent weeks various cases of leather or plastic, but only for the Zune 4/8Go. Today I present a case while specially designed for the Zune 80GB, the Speck TechStyle.

Like all the other leather cases on the market, the TechStyle you to protect your Zune against the dangers of transport of modern life. And he did very well! Wondering what this has more cases than others?

From the first glance, one notices that the Zunepad is not hidden behind a wall that could reduce its sensitivity. In addition, the screen is protected by a plastic film and the rest of the Zune is dressed in leather . ;) You will also notice that within the TechStyle, a micro-fiber is rubbing the back of the Zune. It cleans well and grab the Zune so that it does not slip out of the box. It is also a snap on top to secure the Zune.

Another feature that makes a very good buy TechStyle the clips that can attach to his belt TechStyle may withdraw and leave behind the flat case. Useful for those who prefer to put their Zune in your pocket.

Disadvantages

Now that I have appointed the benefits of this case, you doubted that there are some disadvantages though. Here they are.

Reflection on the plastic protects the screen. Being a avid user of the Zune when I travel often I watch movies or video podcasts on the bus. The sun's reflection is a more than annoying and the screen does nothing for the betterment of the Zune. Although I would say that the situation is worse as we now have two superimposed surface that reflects the sun to the point where I take the Zune out of its case to see my movies now.

The corners are not protected. I understand that this case should have the "Style", but I would have preferred that the corners are covered with leather. It is precisely these parts which then absorb shocks during falls.

The screen protector scratched easily. I do not know if Speck sent me a case or if user has scratched in shipping, but the unit I received contained many disturbing scratch . For some weeks I use the holster, I do not have added the other, but that are present are a real eye fatigue.

Conclusion

We have a very good case despite its small flaws, and I recommend it if you're a music fan most of the time. If you are more videophiles audiophile, you will find another case or take it out to see movies. Overall, I give still a 7 out of 10 because the construction and stitching are very good.

Note assessment: 7 / 10
